    THE UNDOING OF EASTER

    It's the Easter bunny, honey
    making Easter Basket stops
    It has naught to do with Easter
    but a lot to do with shops.

    Bunnies don't lay eggs
    so tell me what's the deal there?
    Just eat your chocolate bunnies
    and the creme-filled eggs with care

    Jelly beans are in on it
    'cause they are egg-shaped treats
    Find your basket, eat your fill:
    Get sick from all the sweets.

    Religious! Pagan! Secular!
    Another holiday:
    A chocolate-coated weekend
    commercialized away.

  • BUT IT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD! lol.....I never did understand how easter went from christ to rabbits.....like I never know why christmas went from jesus to a fat pedophile that sneaks down your chiminey in your house and leaves toys for kids...

  • Wow, another though provoking post!!  I have one child left at home who believes in childhood fantasies.  My three grown children never had any trouble between the Truth of Jesus and the fantasies of childhood.  To us, Santa Claus is the spirit of giving as we celebrate the birth of Christ.  The easter bunny on the other hand ---- just a fantasy I guess.   Thanks for your thought provoking poem!!
