  • Creative Writing Challenge this week ... I'm finally getting a moment to actually participate -- taking a bit of creative license with the assignment, but it was:  Write about your first creative expression.

    PICKLE PUSS

    "Here, have her try this,"
    my father had said,
    and the family, they waited
    for what was ahead.

    He handed to me,
(but a babe at the time)
    a piece of dill pickle:
    He said it was mine!

    Upon my first tasting
    the morsel so sour
    My face screwed up tightly:
    expression most dour.

    The look on my face
    made the family roar
    and they all laughed again
... when I asked for some more.

  • Haha...I like that poem.  It reminds me of my little siblings when they were babies, tasting strange new flavors.  Apparently I accidentally tried some wine when I was two...at a wedding, sitting in my mom's lap.  She said the look on my face was priceless.  Judging from the way it STILL twists up my mouth, I'm sure it was worse then.
