CRUMBSYour gifts don't make up
for the time that we've lost
lonely moments that could have been shared...I'd rather your gifts
than have nothing, however,
so you'll never see those feelings bared. The flowers, I love:
the hot coffee, the cards...
but time spent with you is what matters. You don't get it that
while you work day and night
our relationship turns into tatters.© drc 2004

well put
I always thought "absence makes the heart grow fonder". The relationship (I hate that word ... it has no soul) will only turn to tatters if you're too impatient or untrusting.
So sad, and for relationships it becomes so true. You're a good poet by the way.
I winced at the removing of the "v" in "however". Spoilt what was otherwise a very publishible poem (and a very beautiful one)
Thank you, LordPineapple, for giving me an excuse to put it back in (I didn't like it that way either, truthfully)
Beautiful, I love this.
